4-H Gleaning Project

by Susan on December 1, 2009

This is the third year of the gleaning project.  It started as an idea from reading articles in the Press Democrat and Sunset Magazine on sharing food with those in need.  We are affiliated with Petaluma Bounty which has a community garden and gleaning groups which donate to local food pantries and senior centers and community kitchens which provide meals to the homeless and low income seniors.  We also get referrals from Farm to Pantry in Healdsburg.  We pick the produce and deliver it to Windsor Service Alliance, Healdsburg Food Pantry, FISH in Santa Rosa and Vintage Park Senior Center.  This is a community service project listed on fruits, nuts and berries for lack of a better place.
